For the third consecutive year, the folks from Fastenal and the College of Business combined their respective resources in linking the real world with classroom co-teaching, a Fastenal Headquarters tour, and a networking event to finish off a very full day!

The week of February 20, 2017, and especially Thursday morning of that week, brought a number of Fastenal employees into the classrooms of business faculty and their students, from Business Administration and Accounting to Marketing and Management Information Systems. Through this co-teaching experience, students could translate what they’ve learned from their professors’ lectures, activities, and readings into relevant and practical applications.

On Thursday afternoon nearly 70 students took a tour of Fastenal Headquarters, getting a unique glimpse of how staff and computerized machines process the nuts and bolts of this nuts and bolts operation! After the tour, students were invited to attend one of six tracks of interest (Sales, Marketing, Accounting/Finance/Economics, IT, HR/Training/Legal, or Supply Chain/Procurement/Product Development) and also listen to Executive VP and WSU Alum Bill Drazkowski weave stories of his career path with Fastenal with an overview of this Fortune 700 Company.

The day ended with a casual networking event which included activities, games, prizes, food, resume critiques, and another opportunity for students to make one-on-one connections with Fastenal representatives. Morey, the COB robot, even made an appearance!

Another successful, engaging event where WSU College of Business students could create their MORE and more!
