During the Fall 2018 semester, the Department of Finance, in cooperation with the student-led Financial Management Association (FMA), launched Finance@Noon. The series highlights topics of interest to both business students as well as students across the entire campus.

The series, inaugurated by Finance Professor Rob Wolf, focuses on careers in banking and the department’s plans for expanded internship opportunities. the series brings in real life industry experts who share tips to success with current business students.

Executive-in-Residence – Dan Hampton, a Former Senior Vice-President of Baird & Co. discussed employment opportunities in the financial services industry and how students might prepare themselves for careers as personal financial advisors.

Mr. Kevin Kaiser, a tax expert with Ernst and Young, Shared his experience as a senior executive structuring investments in the most tax-efficient manner. Mr. Tony Beyer of Altra Federal Credit Union explained the importance of using personal credit wisely and strategies for developing and maintaining a solid credit score.

Matt Hawkins a Sales District Leader for American Family Insurance, shared the steps students can take to build a business plan around their own ideas.

The series will continue in the spring with further speakers addressing issues in finance as well as career advice for Winona State students.
