The John Latsch Leadership Academy is dedicated to giving back to the community. That is why they jumped at the opportunity to volunteer and participate in the first ever WNB Financial Grocery Grab event, and this year is no different. The event was started as a way to donate canned and nonperishable items to those in need and this is the second year the event has been held!

About the Event
The event, held at Midtown Foods, consisted of nine competing teams and last year’s winner HBC. The store was packed with the teams dressed in proper running apparel and some even uniforms as supporters gathered to watch the race begin.

Before the event, teams were strategizing on the path they would take down the aisles.

Finally, the last run was made and the winner was crowned. St. Mary’s University took first place with nearly $650 worth of donated items, while The John Latsch Leadership Academy finished in 4th place with $460 worth of donated items. The event raised almost $4,000 in donated items.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about giving back,” said Chris Welsh after finding out the Academy had finished in 4th. The John Latsch Leadership Academy will be back next year to volunteer and hopefully bring home first place.
