Finance Professor Yuqian Wang is known for her extensive research in the finance field. She has completed three research papers, all focusing on the topic of Finance. However, her most recent research paper was trying to solve the question, “Do companies investing in high-quality employee wellness programs outperform the stock market?” Professor Wang, along with Professor Mark Wrolstad and Professor Che-Wei Chiu from Winona State, found that the “monthly stock returns of the Koop Award winners outperform both the monthly value-weighted return and the S&P 500 monthly return index for the years 1994 through 2015.”
The biggest research motivator for Professor Wang is that she simply enjoys talking about her research and finding new ways to explore research dealing with wellness programs and the correlation to more returns. This type of research helps employees in their health and wellness, ultimately leading to increased performance and productivity.
Along with the significant amount of time spent doing her research, she has been teaching at Winona State for five years. She moved to Winona from Dallas, Texas and finds that they are both very similar. She selected WSU because she thought Winona was beautiful and everyone was very kind.
Professor Wang and the many other professors who are working hard on new exciting research projects deserve recognition and should be celebrated!
