After earning degrees in Accounting and Finance, Brent Pfaff ’17 reflected on his time at WSU.
Check out what he had to say.
Why did you choose WSU?
Winona State University presented itself as a place of opportunity and community.
Both these characteristics were very important to me when I was deciding on a place to learn and develop as an individual.
What was your favorite part of your WSU experience?
My favorite part of being a student at WSU is the fact that the University is so accepting.
I never felt as if I needed to change myself in order to fit in. And most importantly, I’ve been valued and respected as a contributing student.
Why are you proud to attend and graduate from WSU?
WSU is a school that rewards hard work.
After pouring a lot of effort into bettering myself and the University providing me this education, I can see personal and University-wide improvements. That’s something I can be proud of.
Who are some of your mentors at WSU?
The faculty at large have been my mentors at WSU. No matter what class I’ve taken, I’ve always had the opportunity to develop a relationship with my professors.
With those underlying relationships established, I’ve been able to ask challenging questions, debate subjects, or inquire about misunderstood topics.
Do you have any advice for your peers?
Don’t be afraid of stepping outside of your comfort zone. Growth is always uncomfortable.
Real successful individuals are the ones who are capable of living with the uncomfortable while pursuing their passions.
What are your plans after college?
I’ll immediately be completing an internship with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Chicago.
After that, I’m keeping my options open to see what unfolds as I progress forward.
