Allen Richardson has been chosen to be the Student of the Game for the men’s basketball game against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Friday, January 12th. Richardson was admitted into the College of Business in the fall of 2016 and is pursuing a degree in Marketing. Since his admission, he has always thought about the improvements he would like to make to the College, so when he heard of a position working for the College of Business that would give him the opportunity to help make those improvements, he eagerly applied.
Richardson’s original role was to write blogs for the Furthermore blog website in an effort to show the More that has been created at Winona State. Since his hiring, he has posted many different articles about a variety of events. Richardson also knew that he had to increase engagement in the College of Business, so he created a “Which College of Business Professor Are You” quiz to get students to visit the Furthermore website.
Richardson was also in charge of the College of Business float in this year’s homecoming parade as well as writing a newsletter and bulletin to keep alumni and current students up-to-date on happenings in the College of Business. Looking forward, Richardson hopes to create an honor and acceptance ceremony for those who have been accepted into the College and a “Create Your More Banquet” to thank the staff and student leaders for the hard work they put in during the school year.
Student of the Game, started in the Fall of 2017, highlights students who have worked to make the College of Business a better place for students and faculty. Recipients of the award are chosen by the Deans Advisory Board in coordination with College of Business faculty.
