Jake Klister ’19 was selected as the Student of the Game for WSU’s Men’s Basketball Game against Minnesota State University Morehead on Feb. 2.
Jake initially came to Winona State on a Cross Country Scholarship to run on the Men’s Cross Country team. After sustaining a knee injury his sophomore year, Jake decided to hang up the running shoes and contribute his leadership skills to the College of Business.
Jake jumped at every opportunity to Create his More by being inducted into the John Lastch Leadership Academy, joining as a member of the Deans Advisory Board, serving as Co-Captain of the Sales Team, and managing the Walkabout Winona. This past summer Jake has had the opportunity to intern under the supervision of College of Business Dean Hamid Akbari. Today Jake is still working with him today.
Jake’s favorite part of the College of Business is the experiential learning opportunities that the College provides. Jake noted, “The engagement between the Dean, professors and students is remarkable. Everyone is truly “Creating Their More” at Winona State.”
Upon graduation in 2019 Jake plans to take his skills to Minneapolis and pursue his dream of becoming an orthopedic sales specialist.
Student of the Game, started in the Fall of 2017, highlights students who have worked to make the College of Business a better place for students and faculty. Recipients of the award are chosen by the Deans Advisory Board in coordination with College of Business faculty.
