The Create Your More Banquet

It was a magical night for members of the College of Business. This night was dedicated to the second annual Create Your More Banquet with people from all parts of the College of Business attending and socializing.

The night started with a social hour and music from Johnson Street Underground, one of the members being the College of Business’ very own Charlie Opatz. Once the social hour finished, everyone gathered around their tables and began to enjoy a meal provided by Signatures. Dr. Hamid Akbari began the ceremony with a Dean’s Welcome along with other speakers like President Scott Olson. Our diamond sponsor, Miller Ingenuity, had Steve Blue speak about what it means to Create Your More. Our keynote speaker, Kevin Six, also provided some words of wisdom on how people can Create Their More.

During the awards ceremony there were quite a few awards. The Club Advisor of the Year award is given to the faculty member that shows phenomenal leadership in the club that he/she advises. The awardee for this year was Professor Marianne Collins.

The next few awards for students were presented. These awards were the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, Community Engager Award, Club Connoisseur Award, Event Enthusiast Award, and the Dean’s Creator Of More Student Leader of the Year Award. The Entrepreneurial Spirit Award has shown commitment to an entrepreneurial or innovative idea by initiating it or helping it grow. The Community Engager Award has made a positive impact by actively engaging both on and off campus. The Club Connoisseur has been highly active and has made a substantial impact on the club they take part in. The Event Enthusiast is an individual who makes a noticeable effort to attend and engage others at College of Business Events. And last but not least, the Dean’s Creator of More Student Leader of the Year is an individual who stands out as a role model by initiating and implementing projects of lasting impact for the College of Business.


