The Create Your More Banquet celebrated those who go above and beyond, making the College of Business a better place to learn, socialize, and work.
The attendee list was comprised of students who make an impact in their club or organization, but there were certain students who deserved even more special recognition.
Awards:
Entrepreneurial Spirit Award: The recipient of this award must live the entrepreneurial way! They should show an interest in or has started their own club or business. This years winner was Caleb Gernes. Caleb won the award because of his involvement in cofounding the John Latsch Leadership Academy with the Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Hamid Akbari. Caleb also works for Better You, a startup fitness application that was started in Winona and has now branched out to other cities like Lacrosse.
Community Engager Award: The recipient of this award is a friend to all in the College of Business! They are always positive and can be seen in the halls socializing with other students and faculty. This years winner was Reed Johnson. Reed was awarded the Community Engager because he perfectly encompasses what the winner of the award should! He can be seen in the halls and in the Engagement Center socializing and studying with friends.
Club Connoisseur Award: The recipient of this award has made an impact and is seen as a leader within their club(s). The recipient of this year’s award was Bethany Seifert. Bethany won this award because she is involved in multiple clubs including SHRM and BGS, and on top of that she is a leader in both of them!
Event Enthusiast award: The recipient of this award is seen at almost every event that the College of Business hosts. The recipient of this years award was Olivia Gadient. Olivia was awarded the Event Enthusiast award because of her near perfect attended to all College of Business events. It is surprising to attend an event and not see Olivia there socializing and asking thoughtful questions of the presenter.
Create Your More Student of the Year: The Dean nominated students for this award and the faculty committee voted to identify the award recipient. Students nominated for this award have made a lasting impact on the College of Business even after they have graduated. The winner of this award was Allen Richardson. Allen won this award for multiple reasons, however his work on the College of Business Induction Ceremony, Create Your More Banquet, and furtherMORE blog put him well ahead of the rest.
