On Wednesday, March 30th, Winona State University’s College of Business – with donations and contributions from organizations such as the Business Administration department, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Club, Winona State University Student Senate, and the College of Business Dean’s Office – hosted Jennifer Chenoweth, better known as The LinkedIn Gal, for a presentation on the effectiveness and importance of a well-constructed LinkedIn profile. The event was a fantastic learning experience for students of all majors and many of the 80 students who attended walked out not only with useful and important information about the popular social networking site, but, with a solid foundation and understanding on ways to create an optimal LinkedIn profile. Madelyn Fateisek, a student who attended the event, walked out extremely pleased with the presentation, stating “Jennifer was clearly very experienced in her field, and brought up a lot of interesting and useful tips that I will be using to improve my LinkedIn profile and improve my professional network.”
LinkedIn is a popular social network for anybody interested in taking their professional lives seriously by finding new opportunities to grow their careers and to connect with other professionals. Jennifer Chenoweth is a professional LinkedIn Coach and Speaker who has helped numerous Fortune 50 companies and over 1,600 people with constructing and perfecting their LinkedIn Profile. The importance of LinkedIn for young and aspiring professionals to find better ways to efficiently search for internships and jobs in their respective field was underscored as roughly 70% of business professionals actively use LinkedIn according to Jennifer. As well as highlighting effective ways to increase and create the perfect profile, Jennifer also stressed the importance of LinkedIn for all majors, not just solely for students looking to advance their careers in business related fields.
Hosting Jennifer Chenoweth, The LinkedIn Gal, was another successful installment in the College of Business Speakers’ Series and provided students with the means to create an advanced and eye-grabbing LinkedIn profile.
