The well-known civil rights activist has led a life filled with breaking\u00a0 restrictive barriers set in place for women. Her dedication to democracy and tenacity she shows in the courtroom are traits she also carries over to her personal life. Cohen and West\u2019s past filmography has centered on documentaries about fighting for women\u2019s and LGBTQ issues. So far, <em>RBG<\/em> has won and been nominated for multiple awards at different film festivals, including winning Best Documentary at the Sarasota Film Festival, and winning the Best Documentary Feature at the Wisconsin Film Festival. Alongside its screening at Mountainfilm it is currently starting a limited theatrical run in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1910 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-510x382.jpg 510w, https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1-1080x810.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/academics.winona.edu\/povwinona\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2018\/05\/1-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>RBG\u00a0<\/em> highlights what a single woman can do with dedication and determination, no matter what they\u2019re up against, fitting right in line with the festival\u2019s values of \u201ccelebrating courage,\u201d \u201cencouraging activism,\u201d and \u201cpromoting integrity.\u201d Ruth Bader Ginsburg\u2019s story has inspired countless women and men alike. She has become a public icon and role model, even at the age of 84, she is still inspiring people by the amount of challenging and progressive work she continues to do every day. One of the biggest ongoing battles she has had to deal with is getting men to recognize and change the inequalities women must face every day, but thankfully because of her, certain laws have been put into place to make some issues women face a thing of the past, including gender discrimination in the military, same-sex marriage equality, and equality for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-Hjn-BucAC4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ruth Bader Ginsburg has had to face adversity and criticism throughout her entire career. <em>RBG<\/em> doesn&#8217;t paint her as a perfect person: it shows her struggles and missteps, such as making an unprofessional comment about Donald Trump and then apologizing.\u00a0 But the film&#8217;s focus is on how she has overcame and learned from her experiences.
