Sam Scherrer is a senior theatre major from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Once he graduates, he wants to move to the Twin Cities to pursue a career in acting. If you consider something “nerdy”, Sam probably enjoys it. Special skills include: quoting the entirety of the Princess Bride, and recognizing puns that someone doesn’t intend to make. He loves working as a tour guide because it gives him a captive audience for his awful jokes. He cannot wait to “Walkabout” with you!
Blayr Thompson is a Senior from Lakeville, Minnesota who is majoring in Therapeutic Recreation (Adventure Tourism Minor). Her future plans are to work for an adaptive sports camp, preferably in Colorado! Her interest involve hiking, hiking, lacrosse, soccer. Blayr has been a guide for hikes and various programs before, and was really interested in learning more about the history of Winona and being able to share that with people who share the same interest is what she’s most passionate about. Walkabout Winona will provide quality information about what makes Winona so unique, and how we’ve gotten to where we are today. She likes Walkabout because it provides something for everyone, whether you just want to know about the scandals, or are planning your future career path and are looking to gain insight. Winona has one of the most unique histories, and in her opinion, is one of the best places to be!
Sayna Parsi is a Junior from Winona, MN. She is a Legal Studies and Pre-Law major and a Business Law and Spanish minor student. She participates in society of young legal professionals as the treasurer of the club. She is also a member of the John latch Leadership academy. Sayna hopes to become a corporate lawyer in the future and work for large corporations after attending law school. In her free time when not working at Hy-Vee or WSU, she enjoys traveling, painting, and watching documentaries. Sayna also enjoys swimming and visiting art museums. An interesting fact about Sayna is that she has played the violin for 12 years.
Eric Stumpf is a Junior Marketing Major and Professional Selling Minor at Winona State University. He is involved in a professional business fraternity called Delta Sigma Pi and the Winona State Sales Team. He enjoys being around like-minded individuals who seek to better themselves professionally and who help lead others. For Eric, Walk About Winona is an opportunity to grow professionally as an individual while helping other students and faculty learn about the historic and amazing history of Winona.
Vincent Ryan is the accountant and jack of all trades for Walkabout Winona. He has been with Walkabout since Winona State originally acquired it from its previous owner. His job has evolved from just keeping the books and a budget to having his foot in all the main segments of Walkabout Winona. He came onto this project hoping to get a chance to practice what he has been learning in the classroom. In addition to being able to using QuickBooks, budgeting, and researching ticketing systems he has experienced what it takes to get a business up and running.
Jake Klister is a Senior from Shawano, Wisconsin. Jake is studying Marketing and Sales and plans to move up to Minneapolis upon graduation to pursue a career in commercial real estate. Walkabout Winona has been a special project in his eyes. “To have to opportunity to grow a company culture in college has been an invaluable experience, I can not wait to come back in 10 years and see how this is really making an impact on the community.”
