Hey everybody welcome to the second episode of “Reel Film Talk”, a show about everything from the biggest blockbuster hits to award-winning indie darlings. We like to look at todays top films a bit more critically than your average viewer putting our film studies degrees to the test. I’m your host Cassie Bauer and today I am joined by Lucy Severson! Lucy is a Film Studies minor here at WSU and she had a lot of great takes on this week’s movie

Today we are getting a little bit spooky on the podcast. This week we are talking about a scary murder mystery, adapted from Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party. This film came out this weekend and is the third Christie adaptation that Kenneth Branagh has directed and stared in, following 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express, and Death on the Nile which came out in 2022. We of course are talking about A Haunting in Venice! Listen in as we talk about the whodunit and murder mystery genres, Branagh’s bold cinematography, and all the twists and turns we never expected. NOTE: This episode is spoiler free for the first 23 minutes.
