When Professor Mary Hudgens Henderson first told my class about writing a book for a portion of our final grade, all I could think to myself was that this lazy was crazy. I thought, how am I going to find the time and energy to do this project. My feelings about the project were completely negative, and then the due dates started to come around. I completed what I was supposed to with haste. However, I found myself to begin to enjoy the project. I genuinely felt joy and a relief of stress by coloring the pages of my book.

I loved challenging myself to write a book that was complicated, but not so difficult that the Second graders wouldn’t understand. I chose to write about the environment, and what the elementary children can do to help protect and conserve the world we have. I am very proud of the book I wrote. I also find it incredibly thoughtful for Professor Hudgens Henderson to have her students do a project like this, and donate them to the schools. I am also very grateful to Mary for pushing me to write a book that has taken my Spanish comprehension to a whole new level.
